Agnes B Bethel

BETHEL, Agnes Brenden, 92 of Largo passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Palm Garden of Pinellas. Agnes was born to Ole and Sophie (Nelson) Brenden on their farm near Nashua, Montana. Agnes joined her sister Cora and brother Jaimer then two years later her brother Orval was born and ten years later came her brother Morris. She and her family moved to Glasgow, Montana for a year. Her father Ole decided to build a house and garage in Nashua, Montana where they lived. Ole lived in that house until he passed away and Sophie until her eye sight started to fail and was forced to sell. Agnes attended school in Nashua graduating from high school in 1940. She worked various jobs throughout her life time. Agnes married Edward V Bethel on April 19th, 1943 in Cour de Lane, Idaho at the Lutheran Church. They moved to Maryland then Virginia. Agnes went to work for the C.I.A. in Langley, Virginia in 1963 and retired in 1983. After their retirement she and Edward moved to Largo where they purchased and enjoyed their home together for many years. Agnes enjoyed several hobbies. She loved to crochet making several beautiful afghans for family and friends. She sewed, liked to oil paint and enjoyed making jewelry, ties, belt buckles out of agate rocks. She also enjoyed feeding hot dogs to the birds that come into her yard. Her two favorite birds she named “Little Bit” and “Big Gray”. They are really quite tame. If she left the door open they would follow her indoors. Agnes and Edward were married 65 years on April 19, 2008. They were members of Prince Of Peace Lutheran Church of Largo. Edward passed away on June 15, 2008. Agnes is survived by her brother Morris Brenden of Kalispell, Montana. Memorial contributions may be offered to the charity of the donor’s choice.
