

Angelo Thomas Murlo, 87, of Seminole, Florida, died on July 3, 2026, with his wife Barbara by his side, after battling myelodysplastic syndrome for several years. He was under the care of Empath Health Suncoast Hospice.
Angelo was born March 16, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York to Sebastiano (Benny) Morella and Francesca Marsalona.
He grew up in Brooklyn, New York alongside his best friend Joseph Martin Merriam until his death on January 23, 2021.
Angelo attended Central Needle Trades High School studying to be a dressmaker. After his father’s death it was necessary to drop out of school to help support his mother. His first full time job was as an office boy, and he moved up the ladder as an accounting clerk. It was at this time he enrolled in night school at Bay Ridge High School to finish his education. Then continued to City College at night for his BBA degree and Fairleigh Dickinson University for his MBA all the while supporting a family. He met his first wife Deanna at a dance in lower Manhattan. They went on to raise Thomas and Melissa, who also obtained their master’s degrees.
He obtained a job as Controller for Philips at their Research Laboratories in Westchester, NY. He was put in charge of several Departments and eventually took control of all the finances of the company and brought them from a manual accounting system to the computer world in 1971, upgrading their computer systems three more times until retirement 27 1/2 years later as their Chief Financial Officer.
In retirement, he moved his family to Florida hoping it would help with his wife’s asthma. Deanna preceded him in death in 2011.
Angelo met his current wife Barbara, on the internet and they married in 2014. One of her requirements was “someone who makes me laugh”, which he did constantly throughout their twelve-year marriage. Angelo and Barbara also enjoyed traveling the world together.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his son Thomas Angelo, Daughter Melissa (Rob) Sankovet of Largo, FL. Stepsons Jeff and Keith (Karen) Bukovan. Step-granddaughters, Paige and Kenadie Bukovan, and Kayleigh (Julian) Kasky also of Florida.
Visitation will be held at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774, on August 9, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at the same location on August 9, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
