Athanasios Matthew "Matt" Costis

November 25, 1967 – July 13, 2025
Obituary of Athanasios Matthew "Matt" Costis
IN THE CARE OF

Serenity Funeral Home & Serenity Gardens Memorial Park

Athanasios Matthew "Matt" Costis, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away so very peacefully at home on July 13, 2025. Matt was born in Tampa, Florida on November 25, 1967. Matt is predeceased by his Grandfather, Julian H. Lifsey, Jr; his parents, George and Frances Costis; and his brother, Alec Costis. Matt is survived by his two brothers: Mark and Sean (Michelle); a sister, Becky (David); Aunt and Uncle: Stanford and Janni Lifsey; and Aunt Kalliopi Ikonomidis; Nephew, Pierce; Nieces, Layna, Olive and Hazel; as well as nine cousins, plus so many beloved friends who became family along the way. Matt graduated from Seminole High School in 1987. Matt worked as a Security Officer and for GenerX Generators. Matt also graduated from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, fine-tuning his Media prowess. Matt had a vast Facebook presence and made certain that his fanbase was aware of all current events, celebrity news and all Tampa Bay Sports teams scores and stats. Matt had a passion for all sports and was a lifelong fan of professional wrestling. Matt will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Matt was a pure and innocent soul whose heart was always genuinely happy for everyone else’s successes in this life. May the greatest RIP announcer himself, Rest in Peace.

P.S. It should be said that the family has long suspected Matt may have secretly worked for the FBI, the CIA, or possibly both. The sunglasses, the cryptic one-liners, the unexplained “appointments”… the signs were all there. If he’s reading this and it’s finally safe to do so, we just want to say: Matt, you did a heck of a job, and we’re glad you’re okay. Drop us a sign — but use a secure channel.
