Barbara was born on October 27, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, to Margaret and George Whalley. She graduated from Fort Hamilton High School in 1953. On August 31, 1968, Barbara married the love of her life, Thomas Gaymore.
Throughout her working life, Barbara was employed as a teletype operator at Spring Mills in Manhattan, New York, before later working at Golden Crust Bakery in Seminole, Florida.
Barbara was a member of the Red Hat Society and found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a deep passion for attending church and worshiping Jesus. She also enjoyed playing bingo, singing karaoke, playing the piano, and taking photographs.
Barbara is survived by her son, Joseph Gaymore; daughter-in-law, Olga Gaymore; grandchildren, Michelle Short, Anthony Gaymore, and Trent Gaymore; great-grandchildren, Peyton Gaymore, Emerson Gaymore, Shilo Short, Riley Gaymore, and Hallie Gaymore; and her sister, Grace Vise. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends and deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held from 12pm-2pm on October 11, 2026, at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL. Barbara will be laid to rest at Serenity Memorial Park and Cremation Gardens immediately following.
