

Charlie graduated from Mineola High School before enlisting in the United States Navy at the age of 17. During his enlistment, he served aboard an aircraft carrier and took part in the Korean conflict. After over four years of service, he was honorably discharged.
Following his military service, Charlie worked with the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office in New York and served as a Nassau County Marshal, where he conducted criminal investigations and civil process work for the state.
In 1973, Charlie joined the Largo Police Department, where he served with distinction for many years in roles including patrolman, field training officer, juvenile investigator, and vice detective. In 1981, he became the first school resource officer for the Largo Police Department, assigned to Largo High School. He was later promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1986 and went on to serve as a supervisor in uniform patrol on the afternoon watch.
Charlie was also deeply involved in the Police Benevolent Association, serving as first vice president. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his professionalism, leadership, and dedication to the community he served.
Outside of his work in law enforcement, Charlie had a passion for yard work and landscaping.
He married Edna Moffett on November 15, 1958, and together they shared a long and loving marriage. Charlie is survived by his devoted wife, Edna; children, Margo Lehner, Kristine Ciminera Cole, and Charles G. Ciminera; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Serenity Funeral Home, located at 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774, on October 9, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will take place at St Matthew Catholic Church, 9111 90th Ave, Largo, FL 33777, on October 10, 2025 at 11am. Following his funeral mass, a committal service will take place at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774
