Chester G. Rowe

Age 89, of Largo, FL, formerly of Cranberry Township, PA, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Beloved husband of Marlene (Fagnelli) Rowe; loving father of Charlotte Watenpool (Jerry Kirk), Lisa Wiles (Alan Payette) and Suzette Rich (Adam Dahhane); son of the late William E. and Agnes (Heidler) Rowe; brother of Edward Rowe (Deborah). Preceded in death by brother James Rowe and sisters, Dorothy Reid, Grace Reid, and MaryAnn Rowe. Grandfather of Daniel Wiles (Heather), Mandy (Watenpool) Rosello (Joseph), Asunta Rich, Yasmine Rich and great-grandfather of Abby Englebert and Christopher Wiles.

Chester served in the Air Force during the Korea Conflict.

Chester enjoyed his work as a civil engineer and surveyor for the Pinellas County Planning Department as a Public Works Engineer; he retired in 1995.

Chester was an exemplary member of his community receiving much recognition and many awards while serving on numerous Boards, committees and associations, including:

• Cranberry Jaycees

• Largo Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, 1988-89

• Largo Planning Board 1996-2006

• Largo Code Enforcement Board 1989-96

• Downtown Largo Main Street Association

• American Planning Association, Florida Chapter

• American Legion

• Gallon blood donor many times over

• Has a memorial stone in the Largo Central Park Court of Honor

• Recipient of Honor Flight for Veterans

He loved watching football, baseball and other sports, playing golf, building jigsaw puzzles and his family and friends.

Family and friends will be received on May 4, 2022, at 11 am, at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Rd, Largo.
