Darleene P Lincer

Darleene Patricia Lincer, 76, fondly known as Nana, peacefully passed away on December 10, 2023 in Largo, FL. Born on July 25, 1947, in Buffalo, NY, to the late Cecelia and John Crotty, Darleene was a remarkable woman who embraced life with zest and love.

In July 1979, Darleene was married to Walt Lincer, embarking on a journey from Phoenix, AZ, to California, before settling in their permanent home in Florida. As a devoted grandmother, she poured her heart into being the best Nana to her eight beloved grandchildren.

Darleene found profound joy in shaping young minds as a passionate kindergarten teacher. After retiring from her teaching career, Darleene pursued her passion for education. She earned her college degree later in life and graduated Summa Cum Laude—an embodiment of her dedication and perseverance. Darleene's educational journey led her to Florida Southern College, where she achieved great academic success.

She and Walt split their time between their beach condo in Florida and Summer Haven, their mountain house in North Carolina, where she was able to indulged in her love for gardening. Darleene and Walt explored the world, her natural gift for connecting with people made her a cherished conversationalist. Despite facing heart issues throughout her life, Darleene's spirit remained unbroken with the unwavering support of her faithful companion, Jada, she faced her diagnosis and surgery with courage.

Now our angel, Darleene finds solace in the loving embrace of heaven. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Walt Lincer; her children, Shawn Bender, Jack Lincer, and Caitlin Carnley; and her sister, Colleen Halverson. Her memory will forever be cherished by her adoring grandchildren, Amber, Adam, Angelica, Jaden, Grace, Jamie, Kira, and Jenna.

A celebration of life will be held in Darleene’s honor on January 13th, 2024 beginning at 11am at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Darleene’s chosen organization, St. Jude Children Research Hospital.
