Darlene was born March 22, 1952, to Joyce Pereiro and Alveno “Julio” Pereiro. Darlene was preceded in death by her father Alveno Pereiro, and is survived by her spouse and love of her life, Albert “Al” Beiner; her son Brad Tottle; her mother, Joyce Pereiro; her sister, Julianne Reyes, and brother, Steve Pereiro, as well as her nieces, Brittany, Brooke, Lexi and Haley and nephews Ralph and Jeffrey.
Darlene leaves behind her three grandchildren that she adored: Brandan, Jake and Sophia. She loved planning craft days and parties for them and would always include friends and extended family for these fun and creative events. From holiday dinners to Sunday football games, anything she and Al hosted was a most sought-after invitation thanks to their always delicious food and lively conversation.
It might have been all the years she worked at the family’s restaurant, “Julio’s” that led to her finely tuned wit. She even utilized her knowledge from working in the restaurant to a new level by becoming a food critic and writing about the thing she enjoyed talking about most, food. Dining at restaurants all over Tampa Bay, she loved sharing her experiences with the readers of Tampa Bay’s Best and the Beachlife newspaper.
Darlene’s writing career grew, and she became a prolific writer with credits in local and national magazines, newspapers as well as numerous e-books, and articles on every subject that can be found on web pages all over the internet. If you want to see samples of her work that were written with humor, backed up with meticulous research just google her name. (She was extremely humble about her abilities as a wordsmith, but she was truly gifted.)
Here is just a snippet; “Darlene is functioning chocoholic who lives in Florida with her husband and two kitties. A professional online shopper, she never pays full price for anything and counts her UPS guy as one of her closest friends.”
She was beloved by so many, and her loss has left a huge void that no one else could possibly fill. To paraphrase one of her favorite tv shows…Everybody Loved Darlene
A memorial service for Darlene will occur Saturday, July 16, 2022 starting at 12pm at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774, with a reception to follow.
