Dennis Kellenberger is certainly swimming with dolphins like Sunset Sam and basking on Heaven’s shores with the thousands if not millions of protected and saved turtles and marine animals that traversed or were saved along Pinellas beaches over the last 50+ years. Dennis Kellenberger passed May 23 after his battle with Cancer. A life’s dedication to faith and to helping others included his work as the founding Director of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and his work with the Sheriff’s Youth Ranches, Tampa Bay Watch and so many other organizations. He is being celebrated June 13 at 2:00 at Serenity Memorial on Indian Rocks Road. Friends and memories to be shared.
Some may still remember the early days, working at his parent’s A&W at the foot of the IRB bridge, or the days of water skiing along the narrows with family and friends. He was a proud veteran of the Air Force working within and around strategic missile silos. He was schooled locally at Largo High, SPJC, then University of West Florida and USF. However, his love for his wife-Carol, daughter Emily, son-Dustin, daughter In law-Courtney and granddaughter-Raegan was most important and ever present. He is also survived by his sisters Debbra and Donna, brother Richard and their families and predeceased by his brothers Bobby and Ron. He will be forever missed, but never to be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe campaign was established during his cancer journey to help ease the financial burden on him and his family. For those who wish to offer support, the fundraiser remains active and can be accessed through the link below.
