ARMSTRONG, Don W. 94, of Clearwater passed away January 17, 2016. He was born in Chicago and relocated to Clearwater in 1954. Mr. Armstrong was a graduate of Northwestern University. He owned and operated several motels on Clearwater Beach most notably the Riviera Motel. The Riviera was the first motel on the beach with a swimming pool and an elevator. During World War II he served with the Army Air Corps and the Air Force Reserve retiring at the rank of Colonel. He and his late wife Mary enjoyed travel and took numerous trips abroad and throughout the US. Survivors include sons; Don W Armstrong II and Brent D Armstrong, daughters; Jill Tracy (Joe) and Joan Abington (Bill), and 10 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife Mary. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday January 30th at 12 noon at St. Dunstan's Anglican Church 2790 Sunny Breeze Avenue Largo, FL. Interment with military honors will follow at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements by Serenity Funeral Home in Largo 562-2080.
