A man of devout & unwavering faith Don was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Palm Harbor. Don offered up his strong baritone voice to the choir as well and enjoyed interaction with the congregation.
Don enlisted in the US Navy in June of 1945. He served honorably until his discharge.
Born in Buffalo NY on July 16, 1927. Don worked for the NY telephone Company from 1947 until retiring in 1984 as a lineman & switchman. Don embraced retirement & enjoyed reading, golf, billiards and weekly visits to Tampa Bay Downs. Later in retirement he developed an interest in sailing and became an avid mariner. Don sailed the east coast as well as to the Caribbean. Don's zeal for this life was evident in everything he did.
Married for 28 years to Helen who doubled as his "First Mate". They shared a love that is rare and unconditional.
Don was a founding member of the Danby Pirates Club in NY. A club catering to the enthusiasts of hunting and fishing where he developed many lifelong friendships.
Don leaves to cherish his memory in faith his devoted wife Helen, daughters Bonnie Griffin, Linda Crombie blended family Greg & Robin Lavin, Lee & Janet Underwood and Frank & Barbara Cappello. 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
The honor of his memory sustains and comforts us.
A memorial service for Donald will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Presbyterian Church of Palm Harbor, 2021 Nebraska Ave, Palm Harbor, FL 34683.
