MITCHELL, Doris Genevieve 82, of Seminole died March 13, 2014 at Mid Pinellas Hospice Care Center in Pinellas Park. She was born in Green County Iowa and relocated to Florida in 1968 coming from Cleveland OH. She was dedicated to the Girl Scouts of America for over 50 years and worked in a number of capacities during her time, retiring in 1990 as the Director of Public Relations. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Simpson College in Indianola IA. Doris was an elementary and middle school teacher in Berea OH. She was a member of Anona United Methodist Church where she and her husband were active for many years with the Anona Youth Group. She was also an American Red Cross volunteer and instructor. Doris and her husband enjoyed participating in craft and art shows in the state of North Carolina, and loved traveling extensively throughout all 50 states, Canada and Europe. Their home away from home cabin located in North Carolina was always a special place for the family to enjoy. Survivors include her husband of 61 years Jeffrey Mitchell, son Michael Mitchell (June), daughter Cheryl Hall, grandsons; David and Brian Mitchell and granddaughter Carrie Hall. A Celebration of Life service is planned for Tuesday March 18, 2014 at 11 am at Anona United Methodist Church in the Chapel of Prayer. A gathering reception will follow the service at the church reception area. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Anona United Methodist Church or Suncoast Hospice as tribute.
