Douglas W Smith

Douglas Wood Smith, 61, of Largo, Florida passed on May 25, 2016 at Largo Medical Center. A former resident of Bartow, FL and Englewood, FL, Doug loved life and lived it to the fullest every day. He was an avid fisherman, boater, experimental cook, music lover and Caribbean Cruiser. He was an employee of Bartow Ford Company, Bartow, FL before opening the Bay Harbor Ford Auto dealership in Englewood, FL. There he was active in Rotary, and community affairs. Most recently he was a real estate agent with Charles Rutenberg Realty in Largo, FL where he resided with his heart mate and companion Deb Devlin. He is preceded in death by his mother Selina Wood Smith and brother Eugene Lee Smith. Survivors include his father Ernest M. Smith (Ginger), of Bartow, FL, sisters Ellen Walworth, Lakeland, FL, and Kathy Haley, Bartow, FL., children, Christi Kiser Lakeland, FL, Chris Tubbs (Nikki) Poway, CA, Kyle Tubbs Escondido, CA, 4 grandchildren and numerous extended family members. He will be missed by a wide circle of friends and colleagues from throughout his life. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday June 4th from 2 to 5 pm at Serenity Funeral Home 13401 Indian Rocks Road in Largo, FL.
