MEKIS, Edward J., 84, of Seminole, FL, died December 1, 2011. Ed was born in McKeesport, PA. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Largo, FL; a veteran of WW II serving in the Navy; enjoyed gardening, music and computers. Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Connor (2008). He is survived by his wife, Lena "Lee" of 60 years; children, Chris (Ricke) Stauffer, Debbie (Tom) Johnson, Susan (Kevin) Payne and John (Katherine) Mekis; grandchildren, Ricke (Charity) Stauffer, Jr., Matthew (Tereva) Stauffer, Johannes (Joanie) Stauffer, Abigail Stauffer, Miriam Johnson, Martha Johnson, Joseph Mekis and Jozsua Mekis; great grandson, Asher Stauffer and sister, Bernie (Don) Hawksworth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jerome "Gathered In Love" Campaign, Catholic Charities or a favorite charity.
