Dear Family and friends,
When I heard of Eric’s passing, I was fortunately in a treatment center for alcoholism, addiction, and mental healthcare. It has been some time since his passing, but have been thinking of him lately. I pray you are all somehow able to cope with the unbelievable loss of a son, friend, and amazing human being. Since the 4th grade, Eric and I have known each other. We were on the Mustang news channel together, and has always held a special place in my heart. He lives on in spirit, and continues to remind me of how precious and delicate life can be, and remains an instrumental piece to my own process.

To the Scherer family,  I am deeply saddened by the passing of Eric.  He was one of the students a teacher does not forget.  When he was in my fifth grade class I often walked him to the office because of his diabetes.  I have already told my class this year about him and how brave and positive he was.  I will never forget your brother and son.  He was one of the students I will remember long after I retire.  May God wrap his loving arms around your family in this most difficult of times. Eric was fun to play football with.  He was a good friend and a good person.  He had a good life and good friends. I wish he could still be here with us.
