Florence G Spinks Salas

SALAS, Florence G. “Flo” Salas age 83 of Largo passed away September 12, 2010 under the care of Hospice House Woodside in Pinellas Park. She was born in Wood Green London England and came to Florida from England in 1946. She has been a resident of Largo since 1966 coming from Tampa. Florence made it known to all that she was very proud to be a British subject and a war bride that married on September 23, 1944 in London England. Jose' and Flo enjoyed traveling the world together. She and her late husband Jose’ Salas were the owners of Acre Iron & Metal Co. in Pinellas Park for 35 years. She was a member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church and the Colombiettes Council 4892. Florence enjoyed sewing, knitting and crafts. Survivors include sons Jose’ Salas III (Jonnie) Big Canoe GA, John Salas (Lisa) Seminole FL, daughters; Madaline O’Berry (William) St. Petersburg FL, Patricia Sasser (Bruce) Largo FL, and Lucille Sills (Craig) Queen Creek AZ. She is also survived by sister Joyce Fels, London England, 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Lucille Giglia (Frank) Lakeland FL. She is preceded in death by her husband Jose’, and sister Ethel Coles. Funeral services will be held on Friday Sept. 17th at 10:30am at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Largo. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater. Visitation hours are scheduled for Thurs. Sept. 16th at Moss Feaster Funeral Home Serenity Gardens Chapel in Largo from 4 to 8 pm. A Vigil Service will be held at 7pm during visitation hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation 5771 Roosevelt Blvd Clearwater FL 33760-9962.
