Frank was born on July 14, 1968, in Patuxent, Maryland, to Carol (Donahue/Godfrey) Scozzafava and the late Frank James Godfrey. He grew up in Danbury, Connecticut, where he graduated from Danbury High School. Although Florida became his home later in life, Danbury always remained an important part of his story, filled with family, lifelong friends, and countless memories.
Frank spent the last five-plus years working in medical collections with ASI Systems in Largo, Florida. Throughout his working years, some of his fondest memories came from his time at 7-Eleven in Danbury and CD One Stop in Bethel, Connecticut. More than the jobs themselves, Frank treasured the people he met along the way and the friendships that became part of his life.
Frank had an incredible passion and natural talent for art, especially drawing. His ability to take a blank page and bring it to life was truly remarkable. His artwork was one of the many ways his creativity and unique personality shined through.
But Frank’s greatest legacy will not be found in where he worked or even in the beautiful things he could create with a pencil. It will be found in the people he loved.
Frank was a beloved son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, cousin, and friend. To those fortunate enough to know him, he was someone who loved deeply and gave generously. He was the kind of person who would give a friend the shirt off his back if he could.
Being “Uncle Frank” held a particularly special place in his heart. He wasn’t only an uncle to his own nieces and nephews; he became “Uncle Frank” to so many children who came into his life. He had a way of making children feel loved, important, and accepted, and there were some who held an especially close place in his heart. He treated them as though they were his own.
Frank is survived by his mother and stepfather, Carol and John Scozzafava of Largo, Florida; his four siblings and their spouses residing in Florida and Connecticut; seven nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and great-nephews. He also leaves behind many extended family members, lifelong friends, coworkers, and loved ones in both Florida and Connecticut who will miss him dearly.
Frank was predeceased by his father, Frank James Godfrey, who passed away in 1978; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members who went before him.
Frank’s passing leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of those who loved him. His family will remember his humor, his creativity, his generosity, his love for children, and simply what it meant to have Frank as a son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Although Frank built a life and was deeply loved in both Florida and his hometown of Danbury, Connecticut, the family has decided that a funeral will be held in Connecticut only in the Spring of 2027. Details to follow.
Frank may no longer be physically present with us, but the love he gave, the memories he created, the art he left behind, and the lives he touched will continue to tell his story.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our Frank.
