Garland worked in various places throughout his lifetime; including, but not limited to: coal mines, ship yards, the United States Navy, and at Publix as the “Back Door Man.” Anyone who knows Garland knows that his greatest accomplishment was purchasing and running his own business: B&G Beer and Grocery. Garland loved the many careers he dedicated himself to, but his greatest love was his departed wife of over 65 years: Barbara. Together they created a wonderful family that would go on to enrich their lives.
Garland is survived by his four children: Rodney M. Stidham, Garland H. Stidham, Elizabeth F. Stidham, and Nina G Betts; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Stidham family will be holding a visitation in Garland’s honor at Serenity Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 5th from 5-7 pm. A funeral service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Thursday, July 6th at 1pm, with military honors and burial to follow at Serenity Gardens.
