

Gary Allen Cortright, 84, passed away on November 4, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. He was born on November 30, 1938, in Detroit MI, to Irma and Charles Cortright. Gary's youthful spirit left an impression on all who knew him.
His journey through life was filled with achievements. Gary graduated from Scottsdale (AZ) High School. His career years began as a teen at Henshaw’s Department Store in Whittier CA, later moving on to store controller for Sears Roebuck.
On May 26, 1962, Gary married his high school sweetheart, Wilma "Jean.” Their love stood the test of time, an inspiring example of lifelong commitment. A devoted and fun-loving father of four, Gary enjoyed creating special memories with his family, including summers spent on Indian Rocks Beach. He shared his Christian values with his children to help guide them through life.
Gary served his country in the United States Army Security Agency, dealing with signal intelligence and security information while stationed at White Sands NM, and Fort Huachuca AZ. Later, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona in 1968.
After he moved his family to Florida in 1972, Gary established himself as a successful real estate broker. His entrepreneurial spirit was undeniable as he always looked for new opportunities and experiences.
Gary’s passion for life was infectious. He loved square dancing with Jean, traveling across the country to visit friends and attend square dance conventions, and spending time with his family. Gary and Jean worked for two memorable summers at Yellowstone National Park.
Gary Cortright's life touched many hearts with his kindness and mischievous sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Wilma "Jean" Cortright; children, Donald "Don" Cortright (Susan), William "Bill" Cortright (Sue), Kathy Andrews (Chris), and David Cortright (Carol); grandchildren, Amanda Murray (Michael), Rebecca Andrews (David Dawson), and James Andrews; great-grandson, Carter Andrews; and brothers, Darby Cortright and Roger Cortright.
A Celebration of Life for Gary will be held at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774, beginning with a visitation from 12-1pm; the funeral service will take place at 1pm, led by Jim Rutherford. Gary will receive military honors at his time of placement at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park.
