Geraldine "Gerry" Marshall

April 18, 1941March 21, 2020

Marshall, Geraldine “Gerry”, 78, of Seminole, FL, passed away on Saturday, March 21st, 2020. She will be missed by her loving family and friends.

Gerry met her future husband, James Marshall, for the first time in 1954. They struck up a friendship, and rekindled it when James returned from the service in 1960. They married a year later on September 9, 1961. Together they built a beautiful life filled with family, faith and laughter. They had two children: James Jr. and Wendy.

Gerry was a longtime employee of Eckerd’s. She held various positions and worked her way from the cosmetics to the photo lab through customer service, and eventually became a manager. Later on she was employed by Adva-lite where she worked in sales and customer relations. One year she was responsible for the sales and supplying the hand held lights for the Super Bowl in Tampa.

In her spare time Gerry loved being with her family, scrolling Facebook or playing a game on her phone, catching up with old friends, and summer vacationing in the North Carolina or Tennessee mountains with family and close friends. Gerry was devoted to her mother, Hester, and took care of her until she passed at the age of 93 in 2008. Gerry was known for having a sweet tooth and could not resist a coconut dessert – especially coconut cake. She enjoyed following General Hospital, American Idol, Grey’s Anatomy, and the Bachelor.

Gerry was preceded in death by her brother Edwin Michel, and granddaughter Molly Selleck. She is survived and remembered by her loving husband of 58 years, James “Jim” Marshall, children, James Jr. “Jim” Marshall (Anne-Marie) and Wendy (Bob) Selleck, grandsons, Jacob Selleck, and Brett and Brandon Marshall, loving sister Joan Rodi, and sister in law Linda Farnen, with whom she shared a special bond for over 60 years. Gerry is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Our deep sadness is at least slightly mitigated by the many fond memories we have of Gerry. We were fortunate enough to be neighbors when our children were young. Wendy would watch the younger children (her brother Jimmy and our daughter Jennifer, along with our son Jason who was a baby at the time) while we played cards on Saturday nights. Gerry always had the most welcoming smile on her face, no matter what was going on.
Our deepest condolences to Jim and the entire family. We will miss you Gerry, but you will be in our hearts forever.

As a young boy, I used to love our trips to Florida to see my Aunt Gerry and Uncle Jim and my cousins Jim and Wendy. Gerry was always happy, always smiling and always making the world a brighter place! After getting married and having my first 2 sons we would come down to FL to see Nanny and would always stay with Aunt Gerry and Uncle Jim. I would cherish the times we all sat up talking about the past, present and future. My boys and my wife loved the kindness and warmth of Aunt Gerry.I am so grateful we were able to see each other at our family reunion, my family and I will always miss and love you Gerry. Love goes out to my Uncle Jim, Wendy, Jim and your families.

Michelle and I was will always remember Gerri for her huge heart. She welcomed us into your family and always made us feel so special and loved. I had so much fun with her back stage at the dress rehearsals and recitals every year. She was the sweetest and kindest soul to everyone and will be so missed. God Bless you all during this difficult time. Please accept our deepest condolences. We love you Wendy! ❤️

My Aunt Gerry was one of my favorite people in the whole world. So caring, so loving, so funny and so supportive. I loved the opportunity to spend time with her and hear all the stories about my dad and things they all did growing up. She was also so great with my siblings, my wife, my kids and the entire extended family. We all miss her so much already and are thinking about Uncle Jim, Wendy, Jimmy and the whole family. Love you all very much and thinking about you constantly. Aunt Gerry will be missed but her legacy is incredibly strong.

Gerry was such a sweetheart. She always had something kind and encouraging to say and loved her family so much. She will be greatly missed, but I keep thinking of the moment when she saw Molly and the joy they both felt. Sending much love to you all! ❤️❤️❤️

Gerry was an honorary member of our Moms Club. We loved when she joined us for Shakespeare in the Park! Like Wendy said, she always had a sweet smile on her face and was quick to complement us and our children. She was like a mom to all of us. Wendy and her family are like extended family to us and I am grateful we were lucky enough to have Gerry be a part of our lives!! Love to you all!! 💜

Each morning that I awaken since March 21st, I realize how deep the sense of loss we all feel since our beloved Gerry is gone from our lives. Our bond was so deep and lasted over 60 years. Those years were filled with so much laughter, but also many tears. I hope I was equal to Gerry in giving good advice and a shoulder to cry on. Gerry was a wonderful wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. I love you Gerry so much, and I hope you are hugging your precious Molly at this very moment. Rest in peace knowing you have left such a legacy of love and honor.

My sweet Gerry whom I have known for years working together at Eckerd. Our friendship blossomed as we ate lunch together as a group & I also would always assist at fixing the copier& she would tell me she would be my best friend forever for fixing it! She would encourage me when I was having a bad day & we would always know when each one needed a kind word. We continued our friendship as a “girls night out” group & still met on occasion to catch up & was always able to pick up where we left off. Some of the children became part of our group & loved to see our expanding family. We are saddened with the passing of another member in losing Gerry. She was always kind & loving & looked for the good in everyone. You will always continue to be in our hearts!
