Gerarda DeFeo Nuzzo

Geraldine DeFeo Nuzzo, 84, of Stamford, Connecticut and Clearwater, Florida, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Cypress Palms Assisted Living in Largo, Florida. Geraldine was born in Santo Stefano in the province of Avellino, Italy on September 24, 1927. She was the daughter of Carmine and Alfonsina (Vitale) DeFeo. After emigrating from Italy, she was raised in Mount Vernon, NY. Geraldine was a graduate of A.B. Davis High School in Mt. Vernon NY, and was employed in New York City before marrying and moving to Virginia and subsequently settling in Stamford, Connecticut where she raised her family. Gerri was an extraordinary cook and baker who had a creative flair that was seen throughout her home as well as in her sewing, knitting, gardening, and painting. For many years Gerri delighted in a good game of tennis and a competitive round of bridge or mahjong. She always loved her walks on the beach in Sand Key with friends and family and watching the sunsets from her balcony. But her greatest pride was derived from being a homemaker, a mother and a grandmother.

Gerri is survived by her three children: Geraldine A. Nuzzo of Stamford, CT, Donna Nuzzo-Mueller (Greg) of Boston, MA, Daniel R. Nuzzo, Jr. (Patty) of Vancouver, WA, and four grandchildren, Daniel, Gregory, Ariana and Isabella as well as her brother Gaetano DeFeo, of Trumbull CT. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel in July, 2009.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Cecelia’s Church in Clearwater, Florida. A memorial service in Stamford, CT will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th floor, New York, NY 10001 (alzfdn.org).
