

JANKOWSKI, Harold M., age 91 of Largo died Mar 1, 2015 at Palm Gardens of Pinellas in Largo. Harold was born to Helen and Michael Jankowski on May 12, 1923 in Milwaukee, WI. Harold held a degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, a Masters' degree in education from Marquette University, and served as a teacher and administrator in the Milwaukee Public Schools. He served in the US Army from 1943-1946, during World War II. He was a long-distance runner and was Wisconsin's state half-mile champion in track in 1940. Harold traveled extensively with his wife Grace to New York City, Washington, DC, and Hawaii as chaperones to the students of Pulaski High School in Milwaukee, WI. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, and long-time member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club, and a faithful member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church in Largo. Harold is survived by Grace Jankowski, his wife of 64 years, a son Dr. Bruce Harold Janson (Susan), a daughter Barbara Helen Baemmert (Joseph), 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers: Eugene, James, and Henry, and 3 sisters: Jane, Virginia and Geraldine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Jerome's Catholic Church on Friday March 6th at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater.
