

He attended and received a Bachelor & Master’s degree in Commercial Science Business Administration and was a member of St Gerome Catholic Church. He worked for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where held such positions as Director for Management Improvement, Director of Transportation, Director of Supply Management Policy, and Principal Director for Logistics and Material Management, the senior career civilian logistics position in the Dept. Of Defense. He served for 30 years on the Board of Directors for Redington Towers #3.
Harrell Altizer will be remembered for integrity, kindness, dedication, sense of humor, strong work ethic, and love for family.
He was preceded in death by: His Parents Lyda Fay Whitaker & Charles Altizer, His 1st wife Mildred Altizer, His 2nd wife Ruthmarie Altizer, and many close friends and other relatives.
He is survived by His son Jeffrey Altizer and his wife Jeneane Rasmussen Altizer, his Stepson Kenan Gavin, his grandchildren Philip Altizer Jr, Kimberly Wells; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A visitation will be held July 21st from 5pm to 7pm, Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774. A funeral mass will take place on July 22nd at 11am, St Jerome’s Catholic Church, 10895 Hamlin Blvd., Largo, FL 33774.
Inurnment at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Boulevard North, St. Petersburg, FL 33708, will be held at a later date. The date and time will be announced when arrangements have been finalized.
