Harry Julius Rutan of Polk City, FL passed away on Monday, April 27th, 2020 at the age of 65. Harry was born at a military hospital in Bad Nauheim, Germany to parents, Marianne Lenz and Harry Rutan on March 31st, 1955. He was one of four children with loving siblings- Viola Gerritzmann, Eric Rutan und Thomas Rutan.
Harry was raised in several states, but by late 1960s, the family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. Harry graduated high school there in 1973 as a Collinwood Railroader, he enjoyed being part of the Track Team were he was known for his Accomplishments. He then moved to Florida.
Harry‘s first marriage for a brief period to Debbie Kozier. His second marriage to Lynn Sue Stann ended after 5 years, but the two of them remained great friends. He did not have any children. Harry loved to travel, especially to the region of Bavaria in Germany; he especially liked the beautiful castles built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria; he also liked the castles at the river Rhein.
Harry was highly dedicated to his work and spent years as a Construction Superintendent with Universal Const. DeBartolo Development, he went on to join the GCI Construction Team in 2016. He never waivered in his conscientiousness and commitment to his work.
While Harry loved his work, he also enjoyed many passions and hobbies during his time off. Harry loved bowling, racquetball and his 100lb Shetland sheep dog named Shepp, who was by his side for 13 years. Harry especially enjoyed his fishing. The look on his face when catching a large mouth bass was priceless, as well as, the scream he would let out while he was reeling it in. He also had a strong passion for Trucks and Cars that was apparent to everyone he knew.
Harry is predeceased by his parents- Marianne Lenz (Serenity Gardens Memorial Park) and Harry Rutan, Sr. (Forest Lawn in Pennsylvania), and his nephew- Jason Rutan of Maine. He is survived by his siblings- Viola Gerritzmann, Eric Rutan, and Thomas Rutan, his nephews- Norman and Dennis Gerritzmann, and niece- Amber Rutan.
Services will be held privately at Serenity Funeral Home and Serenity Gardens Memorial Park due to the COVID-19 regulations. Harry will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and co-workers.
