She was born on October 10, 1934, in Albany, New York, to John Samuel and Vivien Samuels Ruggles. She graduated in 1951 from Columbia High School in East Greenbush, New York, and in 1954 from the Schenectady Hospital Association’s Training School for Nurses as a Registered Nurse. She married Anthony H. Johannesmeyer on April 7, 1956, in St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady, New York. Tony and Vienne are the parents of three sons: Marcus, Scott, and John. Their family lived in several places including Omaha, Kansas City, Boston, Louisville, Dallas, and the Clearwater, FL area. After raising her sons and a divorce with Tony, Vienne renewed her nursing certificate, completed additional education and worked as an addictions therapist.
Vienne enjoyed going to classes and workshops to learn new things. She also was quite creative and excelled at home decorating. She liked to travel and has been to many places around the world. Vienne also really enjoyed her daily walks, going to dances and socials, eating at potluck dinners, and going to plays and musicals. She has loved living life to its fullest, laughing a lot and staying young at heart.
From her mid-life to present, Vienne was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in a variety of capacities using her love of singing in the choir and her talent for decorating and hosting.
In 1998, Vienne married Daniel J. Hawks and lived in Layton, UT. She and Dan served for 18 months as missionaries for the LDS Church in the Philippines. Vienne moved to Pleasant Grove, UT in 2008.
