She was born on July 15, 1925, in Camden, Tennessee, to the late Roscoe Hatley and Willie Mae Capps Hatley. She was preceded in death by husbands Donald A. Franke and Richard W. Diesterheft; sisters Wynell Hatley and Sara Kay Dowdy; and brothers Kenneth and Elton Hatley. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Largo.
She was also a longtime resident of Niskayuna, New York, where she spent many hours volunteering at her church and civic groups, including the DAR.
She is survived by a son, Mark D. Franke of St. Petersburg; daughters Donna F. (Robert) Carver of Sharon, Massachusetts, and Mary F. (Stanley) Kusaka of West Linn, Oregon; and grandsons Samuel M. Carver, Benjamin A. Carver, and Stanley S. Kusaka. Services will be held at Serenity Funeral Home in Largo, Florida. Her remains will be buried in Eastview Cemetery in Camden.
