Helen J. Gray

Helen J. Gray, (Jean) 77 of Largo, Florida, died Friday, April 15, 2016, at Largo Medical Center. Born August 23, 1938, in Washington, District of Columbia, she was the daughter of John Terrell and Helen Mitchell. Helen was an Accounting Manager for the Federal Government for 25 years with a follow on career as an Educator in Florida's Public School System for 10 years. She earned a degree in Accounting from University of District of Columbia in 1982. Helen's passion was reading, traveling, completing puzzles, and engaging in spiritual activities at church. Helen is predeceased by her son, Raymond E. Gray, and survived by four children, son William E. Gray II (Sandra), and three daughters Denise A. Blakely (Rodney), Donna A. Vernon (Charles) and Darlene A. Lazard (Richard); seven Grandchildren Stephanie, Carriann, Dwayne, Alexis, Anastasia, De'Neen, and Raymond; and eight Great-Grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11am, Tuesday April 26th at New Canaan Baptist Church, 2826 Bladensburg Road, N.E., Washington, District of Columbia, 20018, with visitation one hour prior, at 10am. Helen's final resting place will be at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD, following the service. A repast will be held back at the church after burial has concluded. Serenity Funeral Home in Largo, FL and House of Williams Funeral Home in Washington, DC have been entrusted with arrangements.
