Helen "Grandma Shorty", 93 passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in St. Petersburg, Fl. Helen was born in Browns, IL to August and Edna (Crackel) Hering. She moved to Florida in 1944 as her brother, Howard, was stationed in Dade City, Fl. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.Helen is survived by her son, Terry (Glenda) St. Petersburg, Fl, daughters, Susan Kokx (Douglas) Clermont, Fl. and Patricia (Joseph) MacLaren, Oviedo, Fl., sister, Emma Searby, Tamaroa, Illinios and brother, Earl Hering, Largo, Fl. Grandma Shorty was the grandmother to Lisa (Gerard) Marquetty, St Petersburg, Fl, David Booth, Berryville, Via., Patty Sue (Kyle) Zegan, Windermere, Fl. , Gordy Kokx, Clermont, Florida, Joseph MacLaren (Trevor) Winter Springs, Fl., Suzy (Bradley) Burns, Titusville, Fl , and Jenni MacLaren, Oviedo, Fl . Grandma Shorty was great grandmother to, Kaylin and Taryn Booth, Berryville, Va., Morgan and Sara Marquetty, St. Petersburg, Fl., Avery and Zoe MacLaren, Winter Springs, Fl. and Tess and Jax Zegan, Windermere, Fl. Helen loved antiques, angels, baking and was a lifelong quilter. Helen was always looking for new recipes to try and add to her collection of favorite recipes. She made quilts for family and friends which will be proudly displayed at her celebration of life service. She loved attending the annual Hering Family Reunions in Browns, Illinois. She will be missed by family, friends and others who came to know and love her through the years. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, Fl. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Suncoast Hospice.
