

Herbert B. “Bud” Hayes, 83, of Belleair Beach, passed away at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL, on December 31, 2015. He was born in Atlanta, GA to Herbert B. Hayes, Sr. and Clara Bell Hunter Hayes. In 1964, Bud moved his family from Decatur, GA to Florida. Bud was predeceased by his wife, Mary. He is survived by son, Steve Hayes, of Belleair Beach, FL; son, Paul Hayes, of Largo, FL; daughter, Jennifer Hayes, of Belleair Beach, FL; granddaughter, Hannah Hayes Of St Petersburg; grandson, Jeremy Valkoun, of San Diego, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a Graduate from Georgia Tech, a deacon at Countryside Baptist Church many years ago, and retired as a civil engineer. He served his country during the Korean War. He was a staunch environmentalist, loved nature, and especially enjoyed canoeing. His favorite role was Grand Pa. A memorial celebration of Bud’s life, officiated by Horton Towns, will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11am. Private inurnment will be at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park.
