

Herbert R. Stanford went home to Jesus on December 4, 2019 at age 92. Herbie was born to Ronald and Ethel Stanford on November 30, 1927 in Somerville, MA. Herbie served in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 511th Airborne Signal Company in World War II.
Upon returning from the war, Herbie met his wife, Elaine at the Methodist Church. They married July 8th, 1949 and went on to have three children, Donald, James, and Cindy. Herbie worked as a foreman at Barry Control Corporation for many years until his retirement when he and Elaine moved to Florida. They enjoyed the warm weather together and loved walking the beach. He returned to Kingston, NH in 2012 where he lived in his in-law apartment lovingly named “Herbie Ville”.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving father and grandfather, Herbie also loved watching football and spending time with family in Florida and York Beach. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.
Herbie joins his beloved wife of 60 years, Elaine, his siblings Arthur, Winnie, Emma, Chuck, Walter, Jessie, and Ronnie in Heaven. He is survived by his children, Donald Stanford and his wife Shirley, James Stanford and his wife Janet, and Cheryl Edwardsen and her husband Richard. He leaves behind his grandchildren Scott Stanford, Dean Stanford, Kristen and Brian Croteau, Jamie and Chris Dembek, Michael Stanford, Rachel and Shawn Brophy, and Nicole Edwardsen. He also leaves behind his great grandchildren Emily, Gregory, and Zachary Croteau, Cameron and Adalyn Dembek, and Charlotte Brophy and Baby B. Finally, he leaves behind his best friend and companion, his dog, Lady.
