Irene Malick was the wife of Fred Malick, loving mother of her only child William Malick, appreciated mother-in-law of Karen Malick; beloved grandmother of Michelle, Jason, Christy, Debra, Rachael, and Abigail; cherished great-grandmother of Christian, Sebastian, Sophia, Samantha, Trey, Effie, and Nate; and great friend to all.
Irene, her parents, Joe and Eva Lucas, and her brother Bill immigrated from Toronto Canada when Irene was 4 years old. Their family settled in Detroit Michigan and stayed there until they moved to Largo Florida in the mid-1970s.
Irene was an loving, generous, and notably strong-willed woman. She was the type of mother who never wanted to see her family go without, never see them struggle. She was the grandmother who would single-handedly take the many grandchildren to Disney World, she would take them from ride to ride and show to show. She would thoroughly exhaust the children with the 6 AM drive through to the last electric parade of the evening, all the while forging on without complaint or signs of tiredness. Her family's happiness was her top priority. She was the friend that loved to visit and one who would gladly pick you up in a moments notice and drive you to wherever you needed to go.
Irene had an indominable spirit, not letting breast cancer at 56 nor a broken hip at 83 keep her down. She was the type of woman who would rather work until she was 88 than ever think of relaxing in retirement. A woman who not only continued to be a source of love and generosity but one who strove for independence up until the very end, never wanting to burden anyone. She exemplified and was inspirational with her love, her generosity and her strength. She was the creator of so many happy memories. She will always be loved and always be missed.
