COCHRAN, James W., DDS, 91, passed away at Hospice House Woodside on January 28, 2013. He was born and raised in Clearwater, FL. He held a national championship in Snipe racing. He served in the United States Army as a meteorologist after which he earned a degree in Marketing from the University of Georgia. Later he returned to Georgia and received a second degree in General Dentistry from Emory University. He practiced in Clearwater for 36 years. His pastimes were spent on the water, boating and fishing. He was also an avid hunter. He attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Largo and served as an usher. He was a member of Clearwater Yacht Club which was founded by his father, Donald Cochran, Sr., Carlouel Yacht Club, The Privateers and Upper Pinellas County Dental Association. He is survived by two daughter, Renatta C. Holt of Burke, VA and Krista Cochran-Zimny of Belleair Bluffs, FL; two grandchildren, Kendall Kusulke, Seattle, WWA and Lt. Preston Holt, US Navy, Virginia Beach, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Clearwater Marine Science Center and Florida Gulf Coast Center for Fishing Foundation, Inc. Funeral arrangements will be held at a later date.
