

James Baldwin Lucas of Seminole FL died suddenly and unexpectedly of natural causes on May 2, while vacationing at his family’s beach property in Seagrove, FL. Born February 2, 1952 in Anchorage, Alaska, he was 64 years old. A longtime resident of the St. Petersburg area ever since arriving to study at the University of South Florida in 1970, he served for many years as a senior executive at Domino’s Pizza company, and in semi-retirement worked as a part-time field technician for In-Pipe Technology Company. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, JoAnne Lucas, his mother, Claire Lucas, a resident of Freedom Square, his sisters, Nancy Murie of Ft. Walton Beach, Sara Patterson, of Blacksburg, VA, and a brother, George, Jr., of Annapolis MD. Jim was an avid sportsman, boater and fisherman, and enjoyed a wide circle of friends in the Tampa/St. Pete area. Selections of his poetry celebrating the natural beauty of our area, and a feature article on his fishing exploits were published in the Tampa Bay Times. He was a beloved friend, neighbor, caregiver and family man who happily celebrated life to the very end. The visitation with viewing will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 5pm to 7pm. A memorial service will be held in the main chapel at Anona UMC on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 1pm, followed by burial at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park.
