James Louis Snyder, 76, of Clearwater, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. James was born September 5, 1943 in South Bend, Indiana to Delores and Howard Snyder. "Jim" as most called him, was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
A graduate of Indiana University, where he played baseball and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Jim went on to play professional baseball for the Phillies farm team. After his baseball career ended, Jim worked in the pharmaceutical industry, then built a successful Medical Supply business in Michigan. It was during his time at Spring Training with the Phillies that he fell in love with the Clearwater area and vowed to retire there. Jim and Sharlene retired in 2004 and moved full time to Sand Key. Jim was passionate and excelled at golf. He loved to play at Belleair Country Club and made many life-long friends there.
He is predeceased by his son, Bret Snyder. Jim leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Sharlene Snyder; his children, Jennifer Snyder-Pounds, Kenrick Snyder, Audra Snyder-Plumstead; and his many grandchildren, Lindsay Fendt, Lauren Fendt-Blaskie, and Cory Snyder.
Considering the current pandemic, a memorial service will be scheduled and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Shriner’s Hospital or Tunnels to Towers.
