

TERRY, James B., 93, of Seminole, FL died April 6, 2011. Jim was born in Huron, IN. Coming to Indian Rocks Beach, FL in 1946, he worked as a tile setter, real estate broker and part time police officer. Jim started with the Indian Rocks Fire Dept as a volunteer in 1951 and became full time in 1955. He succeeded Chief Wayne Luce in 1965. He retired as Chief in Dec. 1984. He took courses at St. Petersburg Jr. College for for E.M.T. and became a certified fire inspector. He was a member of Dunedin Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was a US Army veteran of WW II. He served in Europe with the 80th Infantry division and Patton’s 3rd Army. He was a founding member of V.F.W. Post #10094, Indian Rocks Beach; life member of Sheldon Masonic Lodge #609, Sheldon, IL, Tampa Scottish Rite; Egypt Temple Shrine. for E.M.T. and became a certified fire inspector. Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Pid” (1984) and is survived by his daughter, Judy (Paul) Garland, Staunton, VA; son, James C. Terry, Seminole; brother, Vernon (Maxine) Terry, Leesburg, FL; grandsons, Greg Lambert and Jeff Terry; granddaughters, Terry Franchi and Kim Lambert; 4 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter. Viewing will be from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday and from 1 pm until service time at 2 pm Tuesday at Moss-Feaster Funeral Home, Largo. Burial will take place in Serenity Gardens Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be mad to the Indian Rocks Volunteer Fireman’s Association, 304 1st St., Indian Rocks Beach, Fl 33785-2508. “It takes a special kind of person to be a firefighter.
