Jimmie Sue Day McClurkin

Jimmie Sue (Day) McClurkin passed away on Thursday, January 19th, 2017 in Largo, Florida. Jimmie Sue's daughter, Sherry, was by her side as her spirit peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, 1/19/2017, under the tender care of Sun Coast Hospice at her home at the Vineyard Inn in Largo, Florida. She was born in Kensington, GA, as the 8th child born to the late Nancy Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Barnes) Day and Frank Day. Her husband of 56 years, Bryan, preceded her in death in October 2010. Born & raised in Georgia, she & Bryan relocated to Seminole, Florida, in 2002 to be close to their only child - A decision they both were delighted to make, as they enjoyed their retirement years in the beautiful sunshine state.

Jimmie Sue loved the Lord and never hesitated to share her testimony with those that would listen. Throughout her life, she had always been an active member in church, singing in the choir, as well as the church trio with Bryan and her late sister, Margaret (Thomas) Connally. Her happiest moment recently was becoming a member of Friendship Community Church.

Jimmie Sue is survived by one daughter, Sherry Girard, son-in-law Dan, two grandsons, Jemison Lacy with Catherine Mohan & son Devin Trubey (St. Pete, FL), and Justin (Ashley *considered granddaughter*) Lacy (Ooltewah, TN), two beloved great-grandbabies, Braden & Addison Lacy (Ooltewah, TN), one sister, Betty (Leon) Carver (Rossville, GA), as well as many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Family was everything to her!

Jimmie Sue was known by her feisty, strong personality, quick wit, and a smile that could light up the darkest room. She leaves behind an empty place in the hearts of many friends and family that loved her dearly. The family welcomes you to attend her Celebration of Life on February 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Friendship Community Church, followed by internment at Serenity Gardens, Largo, FL.
