John J. “Papa John” Maresca, 90, of Largo, passed away at home on Monday, December 14, 2015. He was born in Manhattan, New York on June 18, 1925, to Joseph Maresca and Marie Scanapieco Maresca. He was a proud Navy veteran and retired from John Hancock as a Finance Manager. He was preceded in death by wife, Lillian; parents; and sister, Rosalie. He is survived by his love of 11 years, Grace Saulnier; stepson, Troy (Robin) Saulnier, of Lutz, FL; stepdaughter, Peggy (Patrick) Babcock, of Lake Wales, FL; and Bonnie Gendron, of Norcross, GA. He is also survived by 7 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren, with one on the way. He is also survived by cousin, Rosalie, of St. Petersburg, FL; and cousin, Norman Scanapieco, of Ft. Pierce, FL. “Papa John” was a member of the Seminole Rec Center and he loved to play pool. The funeral service, officiated by Father Bob Swick, will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 1pm, followed by Military Honors. Private entombment will be held at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park. Serenity Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
