Jose Salas

SALAS, Jose 89, of Largo, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 11, 2010. Jose was born on Aug. 12, 1920 in Tampa, and was a lifetime area resident. He owned and operated Acre Iron & Metal of Pinellas Park scrapyard. Served in the U.S. Army Air Transport and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Chapter 4892 and was Grand Knight from 1974-1975. Jose is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years; Florence Salas of Largo; two sons, Jose (Jonnie) Salas III of Big Canoe, GA and John (Lisa) Salas of Seminole; and three daughters, Madaline (William) O'Berry of St. Petersburg, Patricia (Bruce) Sasser of Largo, & Lucille (Craig) Sills of Queen Creek, AZ; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister Lucille (Frank) Giglia of Lakeland. Memorial contributions may be given to Suncoast Hospice. Friends are calling at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 727-562-2080, on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 from 4-8pm. A Rosary Service will be held at 6pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 10:30am at St. Jerome Catholic Church of Largo.
