

Seek, Joseph Benedict, 91 of Largo, Florida passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019. He was born in 1927 to Julian and Frederica Seek of Tacoma Park, Maryland. A resident of Annapolis, Maryland until 2004, he and his late wife, Irma Lee Seek, moved to Florida where they lived at Royal Palms of Largo.
Joe served in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer USS Cony. He earned a B.S. in electrical engineering at Catholic University in Washington D.C. and worked at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland until his retirement.
Joe loved music and sang in the choirs at First Presbyterian Church of Annapolis and Trinity United Methodist Church where his wife Irma Lee was organist. They also sang together in the University of Maryland Chorus. Joe played the cello and was a member of the Pinellas Community Orchestra.
In addition to boating, fishing and going to the beach, he also enjoyed growing roses and vegetables.
Joe was like a father to his 2 stepchildren and lovingly doted on their 4 children. He was the best “Poppy” a grandchild could ever hope for and will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by 5 of his 6 siblings: Elizabeth Ann Eklund, Dorothy Marie Bedell, Margaret Mary Kimble, William Francis Seek and Nancy Louise Kelly. He is survived by his brother John Ignatius Seek (spouse Janet); his stepchildren Deborah Papavizas (spouse Panos Papavizas) of Columbia, Maryland and Dr. Stephen Warner (spouse Susan Warner) of Belleair Beach, Florida; step-grandchildren Michael Papavizas, Nicholas Papavizas, Christina Stanton, and Stephen Warner, Jr. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Largo, Florida at 10 am, followed by inurnment at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St, Petersburg, Florida at 12:30 pm.
