     Lan was the kindest, most generous person and I never heard her say an unkind word in the 33 years I have had the priviledge of knowing her.  The duo of Lan and her husband made an unbeatable baby sitting team that could watch 8 grand children with ease and keep all of them happy and well rested.  Well before the grand kids made their appearance there would always be happy babies at their home who were entrusted to Lan while their parents worked in restaurants and local food stores. 
     Lan was always so thoughtful and respectful to everyone around her, but she was also remarkably intelligent.  When I was receiving chemotherapy treatments which made me very anemic, Lan somehow knew what would counteract this condition (calves liver) and made it for me.  I have no idea how she knew this since there is no source of this knowledge broadcasted or published in her language.  
     The photo I included shows Lan on the right and her husband on the left receiving a hug from my son Ricky when he was 6. I miss her and her memory will always be with me.
