HAMMOCK, Leon R. Sr. born in Anona, June 7, 1927, and a member of one of Pinellas County's pioneer families, passed peacefully on May 11, 2016 at Largo Medical Center. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Nina Hammock; and by his wife of 3l years, Roberta Lee Riddell Hammock; and by brothers, Harry, Carlton, George and Charles; and sister, Madeline Minor. Survivors include sons, L. Russell Hammock Jr. (Rev. Dr. Leddy Hammock) and Rev. Robert Hammock; grandsons, Levi Russell Lowell Hammock, Rev. Dieter Randolph (Jennifer) and Steven Regier (Marilyn); sister-in-law, Anne Valiani; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hammock began his banking career as a teller at First Federal of Clearwater/Fortune Bank, where he eventually became president and retired as vice-chairman of the board. In 1984, he was named Mr. Clearwater. A member of Calvary Baptist Church, he was a long-time active member of Sons of the American Revolution. He was also past president of Kiwanis Club of Springtime City and emeritus of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and St. Petersburg College Foundation. Services will be held at 12 pm, Saturday, June 11, at Serenity Funeral Home and Serenity Gardens, Indian Rocks Road, Largo. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Pete College Foundation.
