Leslie Ann Torpy (née Hines), of Saint Petersburg, Florida, passed away on October 9, 2026. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her generous and compassionate spirit, and the deep love she carried for her family, friends, and pets. Leslie had a gift for making others feel seen, valued, and cared for, her presence brought light and comfort to those fortunate enough to know her. Her smile was infectious, and the warmth she shared so effortlessly will be remembered by all who knew her.
Born in Connecticut and raised in Arlington Heights, Illinois, Leslie graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1983 and later earned her degree from Columbia College Chicago in 1987.
Leslie is survived by her brother, Brian Hines; sister in law, Lori Hines; nephews, Jake, Luke, and Cam Hines; and cousins, Kristine Robinson and Michael Robinson. A cherished sister, sister in law, aunt, cousin, and friend, Leslie had a special way of bringing humor and generosity to every gathering and every relationship.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Hines (née Tennant); her father, Bernard (Bernie) Hines; and her aunt, Marcia (Mushie) Morvay. Their memories, along with Leslie’s, remain deeply treasured by all who loved them.
A Celebration of Life will be planned in the near future in the Arlington Heights area. Because Leslie’s love for dogs was one of her defining joys, the family welcomes donations to a local animal shelter in her memory.
