Linda Lee Hubbard, 76, was born December 27, 1944 to James and Ruth Slate. She went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. She was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. Linda was also descended from pioneers of Florida and St. Petersburg. Linda spent her earliest years on her parent’s dairy farm. She had a strong Christian faith and was a long-time member of Elevated Church (formerly Praise Cathedral).
Linda truly lived each day for her family. They were her life’s greatest joy and blessing and she was certainly theirs as well. She was a loving and devoted wife to Tony Hubbard, loving and proud mother to Randy and Todd Phoenix, mother-in-law to Kim Phoenix and Ken Basham and grandmother to her most treasured grandchildren Wesley and Kaleigh Phoenix. She is also survived by her sisters, Martha Wilson and Jeanette White, as well as brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rich and Sonja Heaton, their daughters, Ashley, Alex and Tori, and brother-in-law, Dallas Hubbard. It always thrilled her to get new pictures of Ashley’s daughter Ricki. Linda is pre-deceased by her brother, Wilbur Rogers. She was a loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, whom she was very close to and loved very much. Linda also loved her dogs, Tebo and Hoppy, very much and greatly missed her buddy, Oreo.
She was an excellent homemaker and the source for all “family” recipes. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by her family and especially Wesley and Kaleigh making her laugh. Her and Tony’s home was always the center of family and holiday gatherings where the warmth and love were felt by everyone. Linda made everyone feel welcome, special and loved. She was the life of the party and at the center of every gathering. Linda had a wonderful, quick sense of humor and loved to laugh. She always loved the sunsets, was proud of her Florida heritage and absolutely loved “her Florida”. There are never enough words to describe this beautiful woman and how much she was loved by her family, and everyone who knew her, or how much she will be missed.
A memorial service for Linda will be held Friday, November 5, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774.
