Bridget and John,
As the parent of two IB students (Katie Lee, a 2004 grad, and Scott Lee, a 2007 grad), I worked with your mom for seven years as a volunteer and sometimes chair of the Senior Celebration Committee.  She and I clicked from Day 1.  We shared enthusiasm for so many of the same things – students, musical theatre, travel, food, exercise and more.  I loved how she cared for each one of the IB students and how she dealt with all issues with compassion, yet with standards.  Good teachers change lives.  And even though your mom was no longer in the capacity as “teacher” per se, yet she was still the master teacher.  So she leaves a legacy in ways you will never quite be able to know, as she made a mark on hundreds, no, thousands of people.  She became part of our family, as I'm sure she did with many other students.  She shared my son's senior recital at Vanderbilt and my daughter's wedding, not to mention dinner in Little Italy in New York and going to see “Thoroughly Modern Millie” at Ruth Eckerd Hall.  I am so glad we had those times together.  Even when she was quite ill, she was able to share with me your wedding album, Bridget, and pictures of her new grandchild, and I am so happy she was able to share those happy experiences with you before it was too late.  Please accept my condolences and those of all my family – my mom, husband, sisters and sisters in law (my children are writing separately) – and I hope you take comfort that your mom's life was the epitome of a life well led.  I will miss her.

As my supportive neighbor years ago and my spunky aerobics instructor, I was blessed with knowing Linda and am so sorry for your lose

When Linda walked into our step aerobics class, she lit up the room with her energy and enthusiasm.  Haven't seen her in several years, but will always remember the "energizer bunny".

Dr. McPheron was such a strong woman, and she inspired me to be the same.  I was lucky enough to continue a friendship with her even past my days as a student at St. Pete High, and for that I am so grateful.  She had such a love for learning, culture, art, and life, in general.  Among my fond memories: discussions we had together about whether I was taking on too much in my course load (and her trusting me and believing in me), we spent a night in Little Italy during her time in NYC in 2005, we shared our travel experiences in China, she and Bridget attended my wedding, and she also attended the 2010 senior recital of my composer brother, Scott Lee, at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.  I will always cherish the time I spent with her and will miss her more than I can express.  What a wonderful educator, friend, and person that we have lost far too soon.

I worked with Linda as a fellow magnet school coordinator in the Pinellas County School system. We always knew her students were getting the very best because of her professionalism, energy, and dedication. Her husband, Mike was always a gentleman, and Linda was always the lady. She laid the foundation for high standards in magnet programs. We followed her example. Pinellas County lost a great educator.

Dr. McPheron was wonderful to all of us in the IB program. Encouraged us to reach our goals, no matter how high. I will never forget her kindness, understanding and support during my difficult senior year. All our best to her family.

I graduated from the IB program at SPHS in 2001. Dr. McPheron was always a welcome sight in the halls. Without her help, I would not have graduated from the program. The world has lost a shining light with her passing.

My condolences to her family, she was a very special lady and friend.

As a volunteer and president of the IB parents, I worked closely with Linda. She was an amazing, energetic powerhouse. She really did make the IB program one of the best in the country. She will be missed.
