

Malcolm was born on July 4, 1940, in Washington, D.C. He lived a long life marked by independence, determination, and a strong sense of self. The phrase “never met a stranger” described him well, as Malcolm had a natural ease with people and could strike up a conversation wherever he went.
He proudly served in the United States Army and later worked in Marketing for the Potomac Electric Power Company. He was known for his steady nature, strong opinions, and persistence.
Malcolm loved traveling and enjoyed seeing new places and spending time with family and friends. Over the years, he left a lasting impression on those around him through his personality, candor, and unmistakable presence.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Wilkening and her husband, Casey; and his cherished grandchildren, Olivia Wilkening and Conrad Wilkening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Brown Knapp.
Malcolm will be remembered for his determination, his gift for conversation, and the distinct way he moved through the world. He will be missed by his family and by those who knew him.
A Committal Service will be held at Serenity Memorial Park And Cremation Gardens, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774, US, on April 10, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
