Marie M. Hinerman

Marie was born on September 9, 1924, in the small town of Dooley, Virginia, to Mr. and Mrs. L. Menken. Even from her earliest years, she carried a quiet strength and determination that would define her remarkable life. She graduated from Whitesburg High School in Whitesburg, Kentucky, laying the foundation for a life defined by intelligence, hard work, and grace.

Marie shared her life with her beloved husband, Kenneth Hinerman, with whom she built a partnership rooted in love and companionship. Marie was also a trailblazer in her professional life, dedicating 30 remarkable years to ELMAC as Chief Financial Officer — a rare and impressive achievement, especially for a woman of her generation, and a reflection of her brilliance, discipline, and unwavering work ethic.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Marie was a woman of warmth and wide-ranging curiosity. She was a proud and active member of Beta Sigma Phi, treasuring the friendships and sisterhood it brought into her life. She found joy in the simple and creative pleasures of life — the rhythmic comfort of knitting, the satisfying challenge of a crossword puzzle, the wonder of travel to new places, and the quiet pleasure of getting lost in a good book.

Family was at the very heart of Marie’s life. She cherished her family deeply, and being surrounded by those she loved brought her immeasurable joy. Her devotion to family and the love she shared with them were a defining part of who she was and, perhaps, one of the greatest keys to her remarkable longevity.

She is survived by her children, Teresa Combs and Fulton Combs; her grandchildren, Julie Robinson, Steve Combs, Jerran Boyer, Brett Boyer, Ken Hinerman, Michele Wilham, Brook Dickerson; and her 14 great grandchildren.

There will be a Memorial service for Marie on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00am at Anona United Methodist Church in the chapel with the red door.

Marie lived a long, full, and extraordinary life spanning over a century, touching the lives of everyone she met with her wisdom, wit, and warmth. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
