71, of Clearwater Beach, passed away on June 7, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mark was our most loving and kind husband, dad, brother and grandfather with such a wonderful sense of humor.
Mark was a fourth generation native of Florida and so proud of it! He attended Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA; then graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1965. Mark attended the University of South Florida, graduating in 1974. Mark spent his life devoted to his family and his career in sales, marketing, managing and consulting. He was awarded a key to the City of St. Petersburg, FL for civic involvement, was an Alumni President for USF in Pinellas County, a graduate of Leadership St. Petersburg, FL, a longtime member of Kiwanis Club St. Petersburg, and was President of the Social Service Allocation Committee of the City of St. Petersburg, FL.
Mark and his family lived in Hendersonville, NC from 1988 until 2002, where he was a member of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church and belonged to the Hendersonville Country Club. Mark’s passion was golf, and he loved playing in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Mark is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his children, Jason (Vanessa) Thomas and Stacey “Alexandra” Thomas; his grandchildren, Elle, Mia, Brett and Ty; his sister, Nancy Thomas; his nephews, Tim and Michael Roussel; and many loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Wadsworth Thomas, DDS and Hazel Chappell Thomas, both of St. Petersburg, FL; maternal grandparents, Benjamin and Mamie Chappell of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and his paternal grandparents, John and Elizabeth Thomas of Tampa, FL.
A memorial service will take place in his honor at Anona United Methodist Church- Main Chapel in Largo, FL on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 3:30pm.
