OBITUARY

Michael Charles Beaton

December 14, 1978June 6, 2019

Michael Charles Beaton passed away on June 5th, 2019 at 40 years young in his Walker Louisiana residence. His father, Cyril Beaton of Antigonish, NS and mother, Maureen Davis of Holyrood, NF welcomed him into the world on December 14th, 1978 in St John’s, Newfoundland. He is survived by his loving parents, sisters Stephanie Beaton Ruby, Mallory Beaton and wife Leslie Edwards Beaton and stepchildren, Mason, and Brendon Rivere. Michael was a supportive son, protective brother, admiring Uncle, adoring husband, and a proud to be stepfather.

Michael’s loyalty, work ethic, and ability to motivate others made him a natural born leader. At a young age, you would find him practicing relentlessly on the ice, traveling to hockey tournaments across the northeast and collecting sportsmanship awards. He made waves when announced as the first freshman captain of Taconic High School’s hockey team in Pittsfield, Ma where he graduated in 1997. His education and athletics continued at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth from 1997 to 2001. He captained the lacrosse team three years in a row and elected as president of Beta Theta Pi before gaining his degree.

After working part-time for Planet Fitness in college, he never looked back. His intelligence and drive would have made him successful in any field, but the 20-year-old Michael had a dream – gym ownership. Regardless of his position, gym management to corporate, regardless of location, New Hampshire to Illinois, he knew Planet Fitness was the company for him. Fulfillment of his dream came within arm’s reach during 2010. An opportunity to open, manage, and grow locations for a percentage of ownership had him moving across the country once again. He launched ten gyms throughout Louisiana before preparing his next move to Florida. His goal of being closer to family did not come to fruition as we all had expected.

The Lord God had other plans and decided Michael needed to be home with Him and so it is. To God, we thank You for blessing us with Michael for 40 years, he brought so much joy to our lives and although we are truly devastated by our loss and feel broken at this point, I know we have to trust in You. We will treasure every memory and he is now at peace, never to hurt again.

Michael is remembered by those who had the privilege to know him as a strong, kind, generous, and joyful man. His presence will be missed by many, especially his closest friends and family. Over the past seven years we have got to know and become good friends with Cyril and Maureen Beaton, and more recently have met their daughters Stephanie and Mallory and their families. Unfortunately we did not get an opportunity to meet Micheal, but we are sure he was a lovely man. We wanted to be with you all on Monday but unfortunately as you know it is not possible. But we want you all to know that we will be with you in thoughts and prayers, and because we care for you very much we feel your pain and hurt. With deepest sympathy from Pamela and Andrew Campbell.

Mike was more than a friend, and words could never do him justice. Blood doesn't make you family. The bond we had was definitely that of a big brother/little brother. He picked on me, gave me advice, and bragged about me (but never to my face). He truly cared about me.
We spent birthdays and Christmas's together. He was always there, through the good and bad times. When we would make fun of each other around others, he would always apologize to me after everyone left because he felt bad about what he said... that was the Canadian in him. Mike was always the first person I called when I had good news to share or if I needed a shoulder to cry on. It breaks my heart that I can't call him so he could help me get through this rough time. I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with Mike and Leslie, and I've never seen two people more in love and absolutely perfect for each other. The night he was going to propose, I got super emotional (another thing we had in common... big softies) someone asked me what was wrong, and with so much joy in my voice I said, "A large Canadian man is about to propose". The experiences and memories that I have with Mike are things I'm always going to cherish. Fun fact, did you know basketball was invented by a Canadian for secretaries? I did because of you Michael. Thanks for French. "You're good people"... "I cook hot"... and Michael Elizabeth Michelle Beaton IV, I'll always love you. -Maxwell Morris III

My heart is broken for the Beaton family, but I know they are devoted believers in Gods will. May your memories carry each of you, in your own way, to aspire to Michael's character.....joyful, funny, determined, devoted and loving are just a few of his glorious qualities I recall. Keep such wonderful thoughts of Michael in your daily lives as that will keep him alive within you always.
Much love,
Laurie Nichols and family
