Michael Steven Ralph, age 38, of Largo, Florida passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 5, 2019. He struggled with type 1 diabetes since the age of 2 but is now at peace with the Lord.

He was born in Middletown, Connecticut on April 10th, 1981. At the age of 4 he moved to Seminole, Florida with his mother, father, and younger sister. Michael had many friends throughout school; many are still part of his life now. He loved to get together with friends and family.

He enjoyed talking to others and worked in the service industry helping customers and resolving issues. He recently found his love for coding and became an integrations manager in the health payment industry.

Michael always had a passion and talent for art. He loved to draw from a very young age. Michael also had a creative vision for many other different forms of art. He taught himself to airbrush and created works of art on everything from sneakers to automobiles. Michael dabbled in other forms of art such as tattooing, origami and painting. He also enjoyed playing his electric guitar with his father.

Michael’s biggest love was his German Shepherd, named King. He raised King from a puppy.

We will miss Michael’s strong will, sense of humor, smile, and very long philosophical conversations.

Michael is survived by his mother, Beverly (Costa) Ralph; father, Steven Ralph; his sister, Rebekah Santiago; brother-in-law, Jason Santiago; his nephews, Connor Santiago and Cameron Santiago; his niece, Caitlyn Santiago; his grandmother, Kathalena Costa; many aunts and uncles along with numerous cousins.

I loved going out with Mike and the wild conversations and facts that he had.
Mike gave me a lot of self belief in what I could achieve and generously spent time helping me learn how to triage issues by writing code so that I could start to develop a new skill.
He will be deeply missed.

Where Mike lacked in height, he well made up for it in personality. He wasn't a verbose conversationalist; however, when he did have something to share, he spoke with great passion. Mike was raw, unfiltered (hence, the photo attached). He didn't go out of his way to make you like him, although many enjoyed his company. He didn't like being called "Michael", as he said it reminded him of being scolded as a child by his mom .. perhaps, also, as an adult. His talent for art (drawing, origami) spilled over into his creativity at his job. He was a highly-valuable resource who enjoyed challenging others to think "outside the box". He was very proud of his newly-purchased muscle car in which we journeyed many lunch outings for sushi or TexMex food. The loss of his presence will be felt, for a long time. I pray for the repose of his soul. May God lead him, and all of us, to our ultimate home in Jesus's Kingdom of Heaven.

I was very lucky to know Mikey at a very young age when his family lived just around the corner from my childhood home in Springfield. Our moms were very good friends. We shared in our youthful innocence in laughter and joy at birthday parties, family bbqs, and even an attempted sleep over. Mikey was a fun kid to be around. I’ll always remember his smile and laugh. When he and his family moved to Florida I was crushed. We wrote occasional short notes, he sent me a few postcards, and shared in quick hellos over the phone while our moms gabbed. We lost touch as friends do over years and distance, but I never forgot him. And I never will. I wish I knew him as an adult, as it sounds he grew into an exceptional man. Rest In Peace my dear friend. Your “best buddy” always, Danny Jones.

Mike was a brilliant man with so many unexpected talents. In fact, he was one of the top 835 experts in the country.

He learned how to work in IT on the job and taught many others. He was a natural leader. You could always be sure he would keep searching until he found truth.

He was really loved at his workplace. There is a hole where he was.
