Howard “Mike” Leishman, Sr. (Largo, Florida) passed away on November 21, 2022. He is survived by his daughter, Danielle (David Smith); his son, Michael (Sophia Leishman); and grandson, Jackson Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Leishman and James Evans.
Born in Havre de Grace, Maryland, he moved his family to Florida in 1977. He began his career with the U.S. Postal Service in 1986. Throughout the course of his career, he was involved in the union dutifully serving his colleagues and at times served as an Alternate Shop Steward. After his retirement in 2015, he served as Branch Editor of the Suncoast Letter Carrier’s Update Newsletter NALC Branch 2008 until August of 2020.
Mike was an avid music lover as well as a collector of sports memorabilia, rare coins, hats and magnets.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ruth Eckerd Hall Annual Fund in his name. Checks can be made payable to Ruth Eckerd Hall with “Memorial Gift - Howard Leishman” noted on the memo line of the check or accompanying note. Please state 'Attn: Memorial Gift' on the envelope to route it for correct processing.
